HI, so NYCOM Touro has just revceived my application from aacomas and they sent me an email to fill out their secondary. However, in the email it states " after you finish your secondary application, you will receive an interview." i am kind of perplexed, are they seriously considering me as an applicant or do they want to interview everyone who applies. is anybody in the same situation?

I *heard* they give everyone with certain stats an interview. But once you submit that secondary they send you an invitation to interview with a few available dates. Congrats! You have an interview 🙂

There is no such school as NYCOM Touro. There is a NYCOM, and there is a Touro-Harlem. Both are completely separate schools...

He/She is speaking the truth haha NYCOM-Touro doesnt exist. I have nooo idea how NYCOM works (i cant apply there as a Canadian) but Touro-NY definitely grants automatic interview with secondary

If it is Touro-NY, good luck on the essay and take your time. It took me about 2 1/2 weeks to make it "perfect" in my eyes

I was assuming he meant Touro in NY the COM, so NYCOM Touro would probably mean Touro--especially seeing how TUCOM does the whole secondary=interview deal. Now if he said NYIT Touro COM I would be very confused.

For most schools they accept about half the people the interview. Touro must accept far less then half if i am understanding this policy correctly.
Am I?

I figured it was touro in harlem, NY. Just pointing out NYCOM is the actual name of another school. The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. It's like saying unecom lecom. It's better the OP knows their mistake now before they might write the wrong school name into the secondary, which would have lost them an admissions slot.

Yea I would like to know the answer to this as well. I also received an invitation for an interview along with the secondary application. I am wondering if I should feel good about the fact that they invited me for an interview already or if they simply invite everyone that they send a secondary to. So what is the deal on this one? Do they interview everyone who applies? If not, does anyone know the cutoff and how they decide who gets interviews and who doesn't? Thanks

They do their screening before sending out the secondary, unlike most schools. So if you pass their screening then you get an secondary/interview. As far as what their cutoffs and criteria are who knows.

I attended an Open House at TOURCOM last spring and the Dir of Adm stated they accept over 90% of those interviewed.

I hope that is correct as I have my interview coming up in a few days.🙂

They accept over 90% of who they interview??? That can't possibly be accurate! They interview so many people!!

Yea, I dont see how that is possible. Are you sure that they didn't tell you that they INTERVIEW 90% of those who APPLY?

Since they interview everyone who meets a certain requirement, they couldn't possibly accept 90%, or even 50% of those they interview.

Perhaps they load up on invites early in the season in order to accept the best quicker and then tag them with a 2K acceptance fee. It's very smart if you ask me, makes people choose them faster.
