So applications are coming up soon and I'm FREAKING out because the adviser that I'd been contacting for half a year now tells me that a few of my courses don't count as the prerequisite courses when I had already confirmed it with him!!!

If I'd known if they would not have fulfilled the requirements, I would have taken courses this semester.

So now I'm screwed..

Anyone know what the % cut off's were for previous years' interview takers?
I heard it was 85% last year. What about the years before?

I don't understand what you are asking? What advisor? your undergrad, or one at a vet school? also, if it is a few, you might get away with doing distance now (some are on-demand) or be able to take in the spring. if it is a vet school advisor, then you should have a written confirmation of those courses being acceptable. schedule a meeting and go talk to him with the copies of hte previous statements.

I have no idea what you mean about cut offs.

percentage of prereqs complete at time of application?

% cut-off's as in.. the grade average of your 20 prerequisite courses for all applicants that are offered an interview. last year, applicants who had an 85% or higher with their 20 prerequisite courses were offered for an interview.

.. and I'm pretty sure i have that e-mail sent by him, so I'll argue the case. I'm in my last year of undergrad and looking to apply this fall. Thanks 🙂

It might be a stupid question, but is the % cut-off's 85/100 or 85/93??

Thank you!

im not sure what you mean by 20 prerequisite courses, are you referring to a specific school? because each school has different required courses, some more, some less

do you mean overall science GPA?

They were referring to a specific school-- AVC. Atlantic Veterinary College.

Yes, at AVC (UPEI), we need 20 prerequisite courses to be eligible to apply (a lot are options). If we have more than that, they only take the ones they need with the highest grades. Then they do a conversion of the letter to a percentage (A+=93, A=87,...). Apparently, if we have more than 85% we are invited to an interview. There is no science or overall gpa.

I'll be applying there next year and I was wondering what counts as an A and a B, ect... care to go through that with me? At my school, an A is an 85+ and I was thinking that was too easy of a mark to get to get into vet school :S

Also, does anyone know why they pushed their application deadline to the 13th or 16th (can't remember the exact date). I'm secretly hoping it's because they didn't have enough applicants and that it will be the same story next year lol, but I think that is wishful thinking 😛

haha I like your explanation for why they pushed the deadline.

I think no matter what the percentage is at your school for different letters, when they'll evaluate your grades, they'll adjust it.

So for an A+ you'll get 93% (it's the higher score you can have) A=87, A-=82, B+=78, B=75, B-=72...for the rest I'm not sure but you can look at the course work evaluation http://www.upei.ca/registrar/reg10
and it's approximately the middle score of the range for each letter.

I hope it helped!

Thank you so much. I thought my grades were much worse than they were. *sigh of relief* I still have to re-take Organic in the spring though 🙁
