On any given year, what percent of applicants are accepted to any school? And another question;out of every college student that declares themselves a premed, about how many eventually apply to medical school? -Jart

Around 40% is best estimate.

About 30%, of which 1/3 gets in.

Sometimes I look at the stats and say; I'll easily get it at many schools. Other times I say; I will NEVER get in anywhere.

Well what are your stats? What is your MCAT ? I would suggest remaining in the I will never get in anywhere camp and trying to fight and crawl your way into an acceptance. I will say this, the MCAT is what separates matriculants from applicants.

So what I'm getting from that data is that the mcat is more important than GPA since the % increase in acceptance is higher than GPA. So.......amirite?

It is not one or the other . It is both. MCAT plus GPA=LizzyM. Calculate it and see where you fall.

ok BUT if you have to choose a slightly low GPA and extremely high mcat or extremely high GPA and a under average mcat, there'd be a higher chance in the first instance. But thanks for your help😀!

4.0 and super-low MCAT vs. 3.0 and super-high MCAT say different things about someone.

4.0 low mcat is doomed. sub 3.0 high mcat is DO. 3.7 high MCAT is golden.

Define high MCAT?
High enough to overcome an objectively low gpa? Above 95th percentile or 515 would do for most cases. If GPA isn't a problem, 85th percentile or 510 is great! But yeah, 3.7 / 515+ would be greatest.
