Average MCAT Score for DO Schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Averages are great to look at, but don't focus to much on averages (I am very guilty of doing the same thing). In my class (TCOM), our average was 27.3 and gpa was 3.45. There are people in our class who scored as low as a 23 and some who scored as high a 32. Don't let the numbers keep you from applying if you fall below that. If your numbers our above the average for that school, don't give yourself a false sense of security because you could end up being dissappointed in the end. Many applicants are highly qualified who get rejected just because there aren't enough seats to go around. If you want more info, buy a copy of the US News and World Reoport on the best graduate schools. They give a nice breakdown on all the osteo schools, including number of minorities, women, in-state and out-of-state, % of graduates going into primary care, etc.

It is 24, but state schools are likely to have higher class averages than private schools as has been alluded to. This is likely due to the fact that they tend to have smaller class sizes, cheaper in state tuition which allows them to be a bit more selective.
