Hey everyone, im starting to work on my ERAS application for OB/GYN and was wondering the average amount of programs pple tend to apply for? Any clue on how many interviews one should have to kind feel sure they matched? would be grateful for any advice!!!

Hi WC1208,

I am also applying to OBGYN this cycle. based on the "charting the match" report from 2007, the most recent I have found, ranking 9-10 places virtually assured a match. My chairman recommended doing 8 interviews. I plan on applying to about 20 places and interviewing at about 8-10. I believe this to be sufficient if you are realistic about your application's competitiveness. The number may be effected by how competive the programs you are interested in.

Good luck and enjoy this year.

I think that this is pretty accurate. Most people apply to at least 20. Depends on whether you have a specific location in mind, or if you want to cast a wide net and maybe apply to 30. Up to you. You can always cancel interviews. Most people probably go to 10 interviews, give or take 2. I'd schedule a couple in the beginning that you care less about, to get the practice, and then a few in January that you can cancel if you are tired of interviewing.
