Starting to get some term sheets, can be confusing. MGMA has 7800 RVUs as average for GI, how many patients per day scoping and clinic is that? Do advanced endoscopy make more or have different thresholds/payment model? Looking in the NYC area. Would also be nice to know range of average salary first few years vs after 5-10 years? What is typical pay per RVU in that area and is this typically negotiable?

Thanks!!

NYC does not fit into the usual MGMA norms as employers have upper hand generally. You will find it difficult to find more than 350k starting salary. 8000 is reasonable for first year but really depends on setup. 8000 will equal 10 procedures and 10 clinic patients a day approx.

Advanced procedures pay higher RVU per procedure but takes longer.

In employed model, most places move to a RVU structure after 2 years where you eat what you kill. No fixed salary. so after 2 years, once your practice is established, you can make max of what your system and turn around times would allow.

Variable on region, covid took hit on rvu last year decrease to around 7100ish nationally compared to about 8200ish median year prior, median salaries nationally 530s, but fluctuates with region, south for example has rvu median ranges 9100 -9400 and median RVU ranging from 53 to 59 depending on the year which is lower than rest of country that can vary from about that to more such as upper 60s lows 70s per rvu depending where youre at

Just to clarify, are you saying 8000 RVUs= 10 procedures in a day OR 10 clinic patients or 10 procedures in a half day followed by 10 clinic patients in a typical day 4-5 times a week?

Would you say typically most hospital employed or private jobs have 4.5 day weeks? At least in my metro area I feel most have been full 5 day weeks.
Variable where you are at and what your prospective group is seeking. Our setup is similar because Fridays are technically half days to be 4.5 d total, although they let us scope Friday afternoon as well to make 5d. Partners and places so like productive members so if have a need they need to accommodate it can be done in some situations and settings but will have to share how much of a priority it is to you
