How frequently do people take CS & CK within the same couple weeks or month compared to months apart? My schedule as I'm planning it now has me taking CK in June, but the place where I want to take CS is booked through August.

The two are completely disconnected from one another, one means nothing with or without the other. Do not be mislead by their similar title "Step 2 C..." The "S" and "K" may only be a single letter different, but their content, their preparation, and their difficulty are as far away from each other as A and Z.

The only suggestion I would have for you is do CS before December. That way, should you fail (and, judging from your preparedness to get it done in August, you won't), you have time to pass it before residency starts (i.e. not competing for a spot with every other ***** who waited until the last minute to sign up).

Bottom line: it doesn't matter how long is between them, they are two separate and unrelated tests.

Thanks for the tip. Our school is making us take it Step 2 CS by December due to new rules in place by NBME.

Quite a few of my classmates did CS near the end of 3rd year. Some did both within a few days of one another. Honestly, it does not take more than a couple of days to study for CS, assuming you're an AMG.

I've got about 7 weeks between my CK and CS dates, with my final med school exams (with a nice hefty OSCE component) and a sub-I in between.
