avg gpa

this may sound silly, but i was wondering what the avg gpa comprise of in school pages? when it says average gpa of accepted applicants, are they referring to the prereqs gpa? or everybody's cumulative gpa? the reason behind me asking is right now i have a 3.5 but ive only taken the prepreqs. would i be viewed as more competitive than someone who's got a below 3.0 average but has taken advanced science courses?

Some school break it down to science, accumulative. If they dont clarify, it is probably accumulative GPA.
