Just curious, anyone here think BIS/PSA partially funded that movie??? I'm sure it's not "illegal", although "unethical" may be another issue. What's next? Commercials saying..."Before you have surgery ask your doctor about BIS/PSA". I'm surprised they're not out there yet! Maybe we should buy some stock in those companies huh?! On second thought...no. We can't be pushed around by coroporate fat cats. Geeze....what a way to make a quick $ out of a patient's fears.

Awesome link, Venty.

Like I predicted, this stupid-ass movie came and went with a whimper, not a bang. It's made less than $14M in the box office, which puts it squarely in the "flop" category . It has not had any impact on my day-to-day conversations with my patients. How about you guys?

Came across this link, put out by the AANA. They actually did a good job on this. Read each section carefully, they say things like "The anesthesiologist would not leave the room unless another anesthesia provider (anesthesiologist or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist), or the perfusionist who runs the bypass machine, replaced him." Also, "Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are highly qualified, dedicated and safe anesthesia providers. CRNAs are advanced practice nurses who stay by your side, administer your anesthesia and continually monitor your vital signs throughout your entire surgery."

Physicians should work harder at making more websites like this educating the public about what really happens when they are asleep.
