Hello,

I have a question regarding awards/honors. I was nominated to join the phi beta kappa, but i didn't pay the fee since i wasn't really interested. And i was wondering if it still okay for me to put this down on the application that i was nominated to join, even if i am not a member.

Ehh...this one is a little iffy! haha If you have other things to put in that section, I'd consider them first (especially since this section is rather limited in space)! I put it in mine, but I paid the fee and went through the induction and all that other stuff. 🙂 If you put it down, I'd indicate that you were nominated, but are not inducted. However, you may be asked down the road why you wouldn't join when offered...and that may not look so favorable. It'd be hard to explain why you weren't interested in joining if you were interested enough to mention it as one of your 5 things on your application. If I didn't join, I probably would have just left it out of my application. Don't worry! If you have the grades and everything else to be nominated, I'm sure those same great achievements will shine through on other parts of your application! Good luck!

Yeah thats right put is last...and if u have to put it, just say you are a PHI BETA KAPPA nominee

does joining a frat even matter? i'm from canada, so no one really cares about frats..admission committees probably see ours as just for partying..just wondering if it's different in the states/if its a good thing to join one..i'll do it if that's what it takes to get into dental school lol

Phi Beta Kappa isn't really a frat...it is an honors society for people with high GPAs...

Like everyone said, leave it to the end...Frats aren't very important.
