I have no awards at all! 🙁 How important are awards to the application?
awards aren't as important as a strong GPA and DAT, so don't worry.

All EC's are just icing on the cake... DAT and GPA trump all.
I would not include high school awards, even if it means no awards.
That's like saying, will you include your college awards when you apply for a job after DSchool? You could, but I wouldn't. I think it will hurt you more than help, but that's just my .02

Well, I guess it depends on what kind of high school award you got.
At my school, we had an award for the student graduating with the highest grades (overall grades from gr. 9 to 12). If this is the case, I think it would definitely make you stand out.
But if it is like high school honour roll or something, I totally agree with you; it would have no impact on application at all....

It may make you stand out, but not in the positive light you are hoping for...
Even if you were valedictorian of your HS, i would not put that as an award. Dschools want to know what you have done since HS to prepare yourself for dschool. No HS stuff has any business being on a grad school application... we were all teenagers than... we are now adults, lets put adult accomplishments down.
are research grants considered awards?
Yes, if you were the author, i would definitely count a research grant an award.
Hm, I just read in another thread that there is the whole "cover letter" type thing? Which asks you to choose top three from each section....won't it look bad if you have blank spaces? Or do most people not fill up everything?
