Does anybody know where i could find information on doing an away elective at the Harvard Joint Program - i couldn't find any easily on the net and i thought somebody on here might have done a rotation there. . .

I am a rising fourth year at UPenn and am looking for an away rotation site - MSKCC would be great, but i have no idea what i'd do for housing for the month - they don't help students at all. So, i thought that i might be able to sublet a place in Boston, which obviously isn't that much cheaper. I could go home to LA and do a UCLA month, but i don't think that would be particularly helpful.

Thanks!

I did a rotation through the HMS exchange program. You have choice to rotate either at MGH or the Longwood hospitals (BWH, BID, DFCI, Children's). I chose Longwood since I was living with some friends in the Longwood area. Both are equally as good experiences. I actually requested to spend a day at MGH as well and did some procedures with Anthony Zietman. The follow are the online links:

The pdf is outdated. Since they would update this for the next term, you would need to contact them by email now so they will tell you when that applilcation is available. Good luck.

Not to state the obvious, but I would make sure to do a rotation at U Penn. They have an outstanding radiation oncology department.

As for housing at MSKCC, you can email the different classes at Cornell Med -- students are away all the time on electives, and there are empty places in the dorms, which go for about $600 for a month (that's the going rate for Cornell dorms). The housing is within a block of Memorial's main hospital. You can find the email addresses quite easily through the student affairs office at Cornell.

Or use craigslist for New York City, though these may cost more or involve a commute.
