Away rotation question

My school's M3 year ends really early - at the end of March. I want to schedule away rotations fairly early in the game. I think VSAS is closed now for this current year. (To be honest, I don't really know how VSAS works yet...) Will I be able to schedule any away rotations in May and June by contacting the programs directly?

Many progs don't even use vsas -- for the reason that it is an utterly disorganized p.o.s. If VSAS is not available to you yet, your best bet is contact clerkship/residency coordinators at the programs your interested in.

Yes. Depending on the rotation and the department. In plastics, we have rotators as early as may or june, because they're trying to pack in 4 aways before the interviews start etc.

You're actually kind of lucky in that most students don't away until midsummer/early fall; now you'll have them to yourself. Was just at a talk yesterday where they mentioned this.
