How are you or did you guys manage to schedule your away rotations to fit in with your own school's elective rotation dates? I'm having trouble with my school's 4th year 4-week rotations spanning 2 months while other programs accepting visiting students only do them starting on the 1st of each month. I thought away schools would be flexible in scheduling visiting students, but that hasn't been the case for me. Instead they request that I try to skip parts of other required rotations at my school. That ain't gonna work haha.

How did you guys handle this? I obviously don't want to be too abrasive with a program over scheduling since I'm the guest here trying to impress them haha. Thanks.

Trying calling each program and ask if they're willing to let you come on your school's schedule. You said they aren't willing but sometimes if you express enough interest in the program on the phone they'll make an exception. I ended up doing a rotation at a place that wasn't on my school's schedule. I just took 3 weeks off to take my boards which I was going to take off anyway. Other things you can do-ask your school if they will let you split your required rotations so you can do an away. Some of our rotations are happy to accomodate (especially EM, anethesiology since there's not much continuity and you work shifts anyway). Good luck!
