If I could take an away rotation in California, what would be the best places to get good experience and get a good letter of recommendation? Thanks!

Somehow I think away rotation is overrated. Shouldn't one letter from the chairman of your rad dept. suffice?

I did mine at USC, and felt like I got a lot of good teaching there (esp. MSK). They give you a schedule, but tell you to do what you want with it, and to use it as a guideline if you're stuck, so lots of freedom there. The only thing is the letter you get is (from what I've been told) generic, and that everyone (that doesn't completely suck) gets it.

A classmate did his at UC-Davis, and had only positive things to say about that one.

Oh yeah, both me and the above-mentioned classmate (and one other in my class) all matched USC radiology.
