I'll be a doing a two-weeker in Anesthesiology at my home institution prior to my aways, but the first week will be consumed with board study for Step 2 CK. So my clinical knowledge of anesthesiology will be based on that experience, Blueprints Anesthesiology, and the cases you all post on here (which usually takes a while... mainly because I have to use AcronymFinder.com extensively). Any pearls would be greatly appreciated.

Don't be annoying. Find somebody who you get along with well and try to learn from them. Most of all, be interested and helpful. Be amicable and fun to be around.

Take call even if you're not expected to. Put in IV lines even if you're not asked to. Just be a good person and that goes a long way. Most people don't care if you know jack.

I am leaving for three months of aways -- what should i pack? i have no idea what to bring? i know which books i am bringing (baby miller, the mass general handbook of anesthesiology, secrets and the ICU book) but what else do i need to pack? scrubs no doubt and a couple decent outfits, stethoscope.... what else? anybody have any advice?
