I always knew that Plastics was competitive, but I was unaware that it was THAT competitive.

Based on my extensive research (sarcasm), I would have to agree with xaelia's assessment.
 
Everybody is freaking out about how competitive ophthalmology is. Why don’t we all share our USMLE’s and compare? Maybe then we could have an idea of what are we up against this match. Go to my other thread and leave your message. Good luck all! :idea:

CAS Participants: 743 (620 rank lists submitted)
Matched Participants: 446 (382 were new US Seniors, 88% of new US Seniors matched)
Matched Avg. USMLE I: 230
Unmatched Avg. USMLE I: 215
Avg. applications: 45
Avg. interviews: 8.1 (Average offers 4.4)

If the distribution for Ophthalmology is similar to Orthopedic Surgery, then this year's applicant pool will probably have ~120 220s, ~150 230s, ~150 240s, ~65 250s, and ~20 260s.
