Received an acceptance to AZCOM today. I interviewed on Sept 22. I am stoked. AZCOM is my #1 as far as DO schools run. I was also accepted at COMP back in August, but to be completely honest I was more excited for my AZCOM acceptance than the COMP. I have interviewed at some other schools as well, both DO / MD. So, if I don't get any lovin form my top MD school (U of U) I'll be chillin AZCOM August 07. Good luck everyone!!!!

Hey ScootDoc,

Congrats with the acceptance. I interviewed with you that day. I was the only asian guy there. How'd you here from AZCOM? I've been constantly checking all day today. Man i'm so anxious to find out. Gosh. Good luck again to everyone.

Oh, I remeber you. I think I even remeber your name. You are form CA. Anyway, I was watching the mail like a hawk but nothing came, so I called and the lady who answered was like ________ you're in. Congtrats! We'll see you in August. So, bottom line is, CALL THEM!!!!!!!! PS. I'm sure you got in, so CONGRATS in advance! Good luck ya'll!!

nice job! 🙂 i heart arizona (course i'm biased, but for serious)

That's great news!
COnGrAtS!

I'm interviewing on 11/6 🙂

Congrats on both your acceptances👍

I kept calling and calling and I couldn't get anyone at the admissions office. This is killing me. I can't wait to find out if I got in or not. I called until 4pm today. Hopefully the admissions office is open on a Sunday but I doubt it. Anyone else who interviewed at AZCOM hear anything? Well good luck to everyone again.

I emailed Bea White a question regarding something else, and she replied today, Sunday, saying I was accepted. It is not my first choice school, but what an honor to be accepted. Good luck to everyone else that interviews; I just wish the school was in the southeast!

I e-mailed Bea White yesterday and heard the good news today! I got in!! Thanks for letting me know to e-mail them. Hope to see some of you guys next August there.😀 😀

Yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I got in too. I'm so excited. Knowing that I got into at least one school takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. Now I can just cruise to my other interviews and not stress too much. Good luck everyone!!!!!

I don't post much on here but I got in too! Just found out this morning from Bea. She also mentioned that acceptance letters will not be mailed out until this week (at least for my interview date: sept 26). Good luck to all of you

Now the only thing to do is decide which other interviews to go on. It's expensive but I am glad I am in this situation. Anyone on here interview on Wednesday 9/27?

Did they make decisions on all the first round interview dates (through Oct. 2) ? I don't want to sound pushy by calling in so soon.

Hey FMR1 I think they have made all the decisions for the first group of interviewees. This is just an assumption though but i'm pretty sure they have. Oct 2 was the last day for the first group and someone else posted that they (adcom) met this past Friday Oct 6 to decide "our fates." I interviewed Sept 22 and just found out today by calling the admissions committee. It wouldn't hurt to just call and ask someone at the admissions office. They ask for your SSN and look it up. If there's no decision yet asking wouldn't hurt. It would more likely help you out more cause it shows you're interested in going to AZCOM. So my advice is go and give them a call. Good luck

Thanks! I also got in!

Hey, does anyone know how big this class will be?

Add me in.... interview oct 2 and accepted today after Bea responded to my email.

Damn, I am jealous 😀 Congratulations. AZCOM is also my #1 choice out of the DO schools. I will be applying next year. Hopefully I'll be starting a thread like this around the same time next year. Good luck with the MD interviews. :luck:

Hey, does anyone know how big this class will be?
this is from their site (i'm working on their secondary so it was handy): For the class that matriculated in the fall of 2005, AZCOM received nearly 2,400 applications for its 152 seats.

don't know if they're still at that for next year...

Thanks Testy McAterson!! Hope you get an interview at this school. It's awesome!

Congrats to you all and i hope to see y'all next fall (that is if i get accepted).
For those of you who already interviewed at AZCOM, how was your experienced? was it stressful? I know it is a panel interview but do you have others applicants interviewed with you in the same room at the same time? Just anxious!
They are waiting on my August MCAT scores to review my application.
Thanks

The interview, like most people have described, is fairly relaxed. When you come into the ad office, they give you your name tag and itinerary for the day. You find out who will be interviewing you and when you interview. You go in by yourself in some conference room, which is small. It's you and 3 interviewers. It's semi-closed in that they don't have your academic scores and they basically form questions from your PS so definitely go over your PS so you know what they're talking about. But for the people I talked to everyone said it was very relaxed and was basically getting to know you. Nothing to strenuous. A few got curveballs for ethical questions but I guess it's the luck of the draw for your panel. I'm sure you'll do fine. They want to make sure you speak in complete sentences and do not drool when you speak. Good luck

For my interview, I didn't get any ethical questions but lots of questions concerning the resume I sent in and personal questions about myself. It was a very relaxed interview and the other applicants were really nice. Just enjoy your time there and be confident when you speak. They can smell FEAR! j/k :luck:

i am filling out the secondary now and the main question is Why AZCom? Can anyone help me with this? What did you like when you interviewed? What did you write about? It is hard to judge some of these schools by their websites.
any info/suggestions would be most excellent
congrats to the acceptees

For these questions, it's always best to read the school's website and kind of reiterate the impressive points that the school makes sure to point out. For example, at AZCOM (interviewed there 9/28), I wrote about the impressive reputation of Midwestern University, longstanding tradition (AZCOM may be only 10 years old, but Midwestern is over 100), and then about impressive points of interest that you can usually read about in the "About AZCOM" or "Mission Statement", such as the school's emphasis on early clinical exposure and whatever else strikes you as important.

Basically, they just want to know that you have read about their school specifically and aren't just applying to a random array of schools.

I was accepted to AZCOM! whoop!

Thanks Testy McAterson!! Hope you get an interview at this school. It's awesome!

god, i'd love that. phoenix is home for me and i'd love to stay--especially this time of year when it's so perfect outside. i toured the campus last spring--and totally agree. it's like a little oasis. i really shouldn't post this for fear of everyone filling the class before i have a chance, but i've been talking with a young alum who matched into mayo clinic and loved the place ... i want to be him, for serious (in female form, though haha). comm and comp are high on my list for somewhat similar reasons, as well...anyways, congratulations! maybe i'll see you there

AZCOM was my first interview so I don't know if I just wasn't prepared or if it was a tough interview. I was asked ~3 ethical questions one of which was tough but not too bad. I was thrown off guard when the msIV asked me which kitchen appliance I would be and why. The school is really nice though, and their students seemed like they are prepared extrememly well.

That's easy...a blender. Why? Mixed drinks 😀

Wow, that's funny because that was my answer. But shortly after saying that I realized I sound like an alcoholic...then I threw in the "and smoothies too!" part to try and save some face.

I will be there? Anyone else? Sorry I am just so excited

I think they tell you to get there at 8am but you wait around for everyone else and the day starts at 830am. There's free breakfast like patries, juice, and water if you don't get a chance to grab any before getting to AZCOM. The first thing they start off with is the financial aid presentation, which is a typical fin aid presentation. Then you go back to the ad office and split into 2 groups. One group will interview with 3 different panels of 3 interviewers. The other group goes on the tour of the campus. Once all the interviews are done, everyone has lunch at the cafeteria where they give you a voucher and you get the chance to talk to students. Once lunch is over and i didn't like this, they get you together again and give another presenation about the curriculum and what not. It wasn't a good idea bc the presentation isn't exciting and we just had lunch so there was a lot of people yawning and not really paying attention. I think this sums up the day. Good luck with the interview and just be yourself.

How long does the interview itself last?

Does anyone know Bea's email?

The interview last about 20-25 minutes. It goes by very quickly because you have 3 people asking questions. Its not really intimidating just know why you applied to AZCOM. There will be a lot of down time in the office while waiting to go in.

hey! I was wondering if all of you who were accepted or are waiting post-interview filled out the SDN interview feedback. I recently got invited for an interview at AZOM and am trying to figure out what questions are asked and what most ppl did to prepare - esp the ppl who got accepted but there aren't too many current interview feedbacks to look at. Any thoughts or tips about the interview would be great! Thanks!
