Hello Everyone!

I am seeking advice on a new situation that has just erupted in my life. I have been taken off the AZCOM waitlist. 😕

But I have been planning my whole life for the past three months for a future in TUCOM-SF. I have housing, family, a wedding, etc...that has been all planned around me living in TUCOM-SF.

AZCOM was my first choice but once I found out that I was waitlisted, I just assumed that I wan't going to get accepted.

Now I have make a decision which I was not prepared for, or expecting. Is there anyone who are/were in similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated.

First off congrats

second make a list...weight it out and make your choice.

This is probably the biggest investment in your life...make sure its the right one.

Go where your heart tells you to. Although you've been planning like crazy to go to TUCOM, a little extra planning for AZCOM instead will be worth it, if it improves the quality of your life for those 4 years.

I had been planning on going to NSU for 4 months now. I found an apartment, threw down $$$ in deposits, talked with future classmates, got an NSU email account, got my physical forms for the school filled out by my PCP w/blood tests and everything...you get the idea. Then I got into PCOM, my 1st choice. I thought about how much of a hassle it is to do this all over again, but I figured I'd come this far and put this much work in, I deserved what was best for me. I didn't want to jeopardize my happiness just because of laziness.

Not to say you're lazy 🙂

If your heart sayd AZCOM, I say do it. However, don't count on SDNer's for the best advice. Some people are gonna tell you to go here or there because they have a personal bias towards a school...or because they're know-nothing know-it-alls 😀

Having a wedding planned is a bit different than my situation though. Let us know what you decide to do and good luck.

Turk.

I think that you will get a great education at either institution. I was accepted at TUCOM before I was accepted at AZCOM, and if it wasn?t for the $#@$ 2K they wanted in 14days I could very well have been in the bay area right now. Although AZCOM was my first choice too, I don?t think that I would have any problem going to Turo, the students and faculty were great!
For sure, do a little searching within yourself and make a list (actually write it down) regarding what it is that is important to YOU. Med school is hard enough, there is no need to make it any worse by going somewhere that you truly didn?t want to go.

I must agree with Chuck. As an soon to be MSII at AZCOM, I could not be any happier. But you must do what is right for you and your family. Have you asked your fiancee where he/she would like to live or work for the next 4 years?

I would suggest that you do some serious introspection and objective list-making to compare the pros and cons of each. Get your fiancee's input and perspective. I think that you would be happy at either school, since you applied to both. Just decide which one will benefit your personal/family and professional life more. The worst that will possibly happen in either situation is that you will earn your Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Keep that in mind and you'll be just fine.

Cyndi 🙂

Thanx everyone for your help and advice. I am going to start a list and try to research the schools again to get as much info as I can before I make a decision. As for my Fiance, he said the decision is totally up to me, which is wonderful but aggrevating at the same time. 😍
