I have an interview scheduled at AZCOM in February. Anyone have an idea on the percentage of interviewees that are accepted? I didn't see it in the USNEWS report.

Thanks

Well, during my interview there, the general understanding among interviewees seemed to be an acceptance rate of somewhere around 70% of those that were granted interviews. As you've probably picked up from several posts on SDN the interview is semi-blind, meaning that if you're asked for an interview "they" feel that you're solid on paper and the next move is to delve a bit deeper, revealing what exists beyond the numbers. Of the five D.O. interviews that I attended, I would say that AZCOM's interview was definitely the most intense, in the sense that the interviewers intently focused on each word that I said and took the interview very serious. Yet in a very non-intimidating way, the panel made the interview experience feel more like a discussion among colleagues rather than a mind twisting interrogation. My interview experience was unreal...I left the interview just psyched. After that interview AZCOM was at the very top of my list. Good luck with the interview...if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

AZCOM Class of 2009!!!!

Thanks for the feedback. It is much appreciated.

I suppose I was a well qualified applicant for the school, of above average stats, and in October, when I interviewed I assum all of that group was cream of the crop.

A feburary interview will likely be more intense and they will definately be rejecting more people. This has more to do with the applicant pool, as it has shallowed.

AZCOM is a really good vibe. Be excited to interview and let them know how much of a good fit DO and Arizona are for you!
Best of luck,
sepaul

I am not sure, but do not get hung up on these things. You are qualified if they invited you, so all you have to do is be yourself, be honest, and smile. If it is meant to be (at that school) and you do these things, you will be fine.

BTW, I also interviewed there, it is a great school. I felt like a nobody scrub in my group of overachievers, but they accepted me, so do not get hung up in comparing yourself to your competition either.

I interviewed at AZCOM in October. I was super psyched about the school. I also interviewed at other DO schools, Mayo, Case, and UW. AZCOM is second only to UW on my list of acceptances, and only becuase I would have to move away from my husband for two years (he loves his practice up here in the Northwest) and AZCOM is WAAAAY more expensive. BUT, I'd be happy to attend AZCOM. I love the DO philosophy. I hate when people say that only those who cannot get into MD programs apply to DO programs. I'm proof of that many qualified applications to MD choose DO instead.

To answer your question about your chances, it is true that when admissions are rolling, your chances are better early on. With that being said, however, I was told by the admissions office that they don't set a firm limit on the class size. If someone comes along who is a good fit, even after the class is filled, they will make room for that applicant. It seems to me that AZCOM is the most selective of the DO schools in terms of granting an interview, so feel good that you got one!

Knock 'em dead! If I don't get into UW, I will see some of you next year. I look forward to it. 🙂

Well, I found out this morning that I was accepted to UW. That means I won't see any of you this fall. It's my loss... 🙁
Good luck to all of you!
