Hi guys,
I have this dilemma to decide between AZCOM and DMU. Both schools look great and promising, but I don't know which one to choose. DMU is excellent with their OMM, simulated patients and offers more research opportunities for its students, while AZCOM has its great perceptor program for first- and second-year students. Do you guys have any suggestions or advice?
I will greatly appreciate your answers

I am an MSII at AZCOM, and I can definately put in my words of support for our program.

Things about AZCOM I really love; 1) The faculty. They are very interested in getting to know every student and making them feel supported. Yeah, there are a couple here and there who are less enthusiastic. Most of them though are truly there to help you learn. The school has an 'open door policy' which is actually lived up to. Quite nice. 2) Anatomy lab. We have a brand new lab for anatomy (also in the building with a new OMM lab) that is really nice to work in. Flat screen monitors throughout, decent lighting, and good student/cadaver ratio are all advantages. Oh yeah, I also found the anatomy faculty to be VERY supportive and interactive with MSI's. 3) Housing. Whether you choose to live on-campus or off, the cost of living is quite affordable. You'll find both single students and families in the on-campus apts. Many people also rent or buy homes in the area. Students with houses commonly rent to other students for a good price.

I know you mentioned your fondness for the DMU OMM dept and your preference for the AZCOM preceptor experience. The preceptor experience can be very good but it is unique to every student. There are unfortunately a few preeceptors who have the 'look but don't touch' attitude, but many will let you jump in early on. It's certainly a great opportunity to get some clinical experience in your first 2 years. Once you complete your H&P checksheet by spring quarter, you can also work in health fairs. Highly recommended.

I hope this is helpful in your decision process. Good luck!
