is 1/3 C, 1/3 B, 1/3 A better or 9/9 B? I know they both average out to be B but is a person more competitive if they excelled at some areas but weaker in others or someone who is just leveled at a particular position and never really excels or fails at anything?

Who would you rather let administer your meds to?

Depends on the courses and other factors......I think.

we're talking everything being the same. The only difference is as indicated.

I like stability, so I'd probably go with the B average.

I think what labrat is saying is let's say you get C's in English, Speech, and Economics, B's in Calculus, Biology, and GChem; and A's in OChem, BioChem, and Micro.

That'd be different then if you had the reverse (A's in non-sciences and C's in Sciences).

In case 1 then they'd probably rank higher than straight B's. In case 2 probably lower than straight B's.

That's just my own logic. It's hard to say how deep AdComs analyze transcripts beyond just general GPA. Some are more stringent than others I'd assume.

Yep

hehehe...yah i kinda sensed what he meant after I logged off to leave the school library because they were closing in like 5 or 10 minutes. When he said "and other factors" the first thing that came to my mind was that everything else were the same so I quickly responded. but yah...I know what you're saying. It's better to score A's on more difficult science classes than easy GE classes but in this case what I meant was they are all upper division science courses like Microbio, physio, ochem, biochem, genetics, immunology; those kind of courses. They are all hard in their own. I just felt rreally bad when I saw that my transcript were full of Bs. Kinda disappointing and I hope the adcomm wont see the same!

Let's see. Micro B, Anat/physio (Lower Division) A, biochem Bx2, Molecular Bio B, didn't have immuno, but I'm sure if I had it would've been a B also. I'd say you're probably fine.
