A lot of the PT's around here in Milwaukee that are in smaller local clinics only have a bachelors in PT. And I checked, in Wisconsin at least thats all you need, as long as you pass the licensure exams. The ATPA vision for 2020 is just a vision, not a requirement.

Why are we going to DPT school? Just to be more competitive? For more money?

Most have bachelors because they graduated years ago. Somewhere along the way it turned into a masters, and obviously now, a doctorate.

The change has a lot to do with our scope of practice and how much more we learn in PT school now than what was taught 15-20 years ago. States won't require a DPT for a while as many of these practicing PTs with bachelors will be retired by 2020.

There are a ton of threads on this forum on "MPT vs. DPT". They might help you with your questions....
