Im studying for this test and my back is killing me. I could barely sleep last night. I think my problem is that I bend my back while seating to study the material. Any of you guys?

My last dentist had to retire because he had a bad back and could not practice anymore. That would suck!

a few possible solutions:
1. see a doctor
2. buy an ergonomic chair, adjust table/chair height
3. buy a better mattress
3. exercise, train ur back muscle to keep it straight/support ur body weight, so the weight falls on ur muscle instead of ur backbone.

Thanx Zeus! I think one of the problems is I used to work out alot and now kinda slacking. All the squats and deadlifts are taking their toll on me. A new mattress might be helpfull as well.

get one of these, or a standing one. your back will not curve as it would normally when you place your book on a desk. this 'shtender' (yiddish name) will raise the level of the book so you won't need to crouch
healthy studying is key!

I agree with poc, doing ab exercises will alleviate half of the stress on your back. Second you should see a chiropractor, not a doctor, to adjust your back. A doctor will probably give you pain medication, the source of your problem is most likely sublixation of your vertebrate which can be removed through adjustment of the spine and lower back.

oh wow..that looks cool, thanx Dan! Now where do I get my hands on one of those?

I still work out, just not as often. Mostly just run. Damn Dat, I feel like I know nothing and I have been studying for about 3 weeks on and off.

Thanx for the advice guys! Surprised no one has back problems.

oh, speaking of chairs, have you guys ever seen this kind of chairs?

The chair looks funny, but the way you are positioned while seating will naturally straighten your back, without you putting in any effort. (Part of the weight is put on ur knee)

The only downside is that it might not feel as comfortable if you are sitting on it the whole day. You may need time to adapt to the chair (i.e. one hour each day, then gradually increase the time spent on this chair)

U can go to the store and try it, it's really cool.

and TermiNadder2012 is right, chiropractor is probably better than doctors.

also..maybe drinking more milk will help in long term too 🙂

I have the same back problem as u are. I guess u really do need to get the book support it's really helpful.

All right, Im not alone in this after all!

Man, that chair looks uncomfortable Zeus! That is probably going to hurt even more. I have been reading on my bed with my laptop the past two days and it feels much better to tell you the truth.

One week left till DAT and then some free time to breathe. Thanx for the responses guys!
