Back to basics WW again

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah. Your comments about recklessness above are compelling, and I admit, it's given me pause in my thinking even prior to you posting it. I don't see you being a huge risk-taker like that D1 in a basics game.

But I also think that you might be looking at the roster and saying "there's a whollllleeeeee lotta new players. I can talk my way through this one."

I dunno. Switching your vote like that was just very, very weird.

Not saying I'm not listening to you. I'm just having a hard time getting past the vote movement.
Did you play the last basics game? STL claimed he was the seer D1 to get out of a lynch that he really should have been able to talk himself out of. The reason he claimed seer? To out the actual seer so the wolves could kill her.

Raf is my top right now. I will probably vote that way this cycle. Jil is on my radar because I know she checked in, and she knew she was being talked about so I was wondering why she made one post and left. Stl is on my list but that could just be because the crazy conspiracies make me all squinty eyed. Those are my top three. Everyone else I'm wondering about is quiet. And I'm wondering (not saying it's oh so wolfy) because I am always reluctant to post on a thread and even remind people I'm playing when I'm a wolf. So I don't have a top 5 per se! You were on my list a touch but only because you hadn't said anything, but now you're here and being typical you lol
I made two posts between doing stuff that needed to get done like cooking and laundry. Yes, I know I was being talked about, but I don't understand what STL's deal is, and I really didn't think anyone was going to follow his weird vague comment yesterday. It's hard to defend against something he isn't even willing to disclose. I honestly believe he either has me confused with someone else (judging by his "don't make me go back and check my spreadsheets" comment) or he's being a bold wolf trying to out people with roles, which wouldn't surprise me either.

For what it is worth AM has come off as sketch in every game I've played with her lol.
LOL! This is SOOOO true. She always gets lynched!

Okay, here I am as promised.

STL- thought Jil was a wolf yesterday but last minute switched back to cdo even though she claimed a power role (which like I said earlier I personally was unsure about because other people were saying they remembered a night vigilante but not a day one and thought a day one would be weird for a basics game, so I kept my vote). Didn’t want to lynch cdo but voted for her because it would give him spreadsheet info, even though he thought Jil was wolfy.

AM- did have more than 5 posts yesterday, but they were all short and more fluff than content (like lynch tallies and such). Short posts seems to be how she plays from what I can tell, but I still don’t really like it, especially in a game where we have a content-not-fluff post requirement. Didn’t realize that LIS WAS still in the game even though the numbers and write up things only accounted for us losing two people since the beginning, cdo and Lyra. Could have just missed it, certainly I do miss things, but just putting it on here.

Raf- not really strategizing like she’s done in the past, being pretty wishy-washy (saying she could switch to cdo but didn’t want plurality to occur, but it was not in play day 1. May have just missed that, but still :eyebrow:)

And finally,

Cyndia- wanted to hear from confusing, SAR, and I about sticking with cdo and quoted serher’s post, even though we had all given our reasoning much earlier. I thought that was just kinda weird. Hasn’t been posting too much, though I know she did say she was at NAVC, but trilt is too. Has only posted TWICE in the last day cycle and once so far this day cycle. The things she did post were more of fluff than content and hasn't done much of any analysis/suggesting wolves.
And with that, I think I will lynch Cyndia

@SkiOtter

I had no motivation to study so I made you a "basic" otter with a pumpkin spice latte avatar.

Enjoy 😛

I also responded to this already yesterday. I saw something dvmd posted saying that 1 more vote would hit plurality and I had forgotten that dy had said it wasn't in effect until D2. I'm on my phone and can't look for my actual response, but it's in there, I promise. A little concerned that you're bringing this up again after it has been discussed yesterday, why is it causing eyebrow raising for you now specifically??

I was compiling my thoughts and posting them because people had said they wanted to hear from me today. I didn't have too much for you, as you can see by my post about you, but I did want to throw my thoughts out there.

As far as strategizing goes, I usually like to go off of the theme of the game. Usually the mods make the game mechanics somewhat follow the theme of the game. I like strategizing based on this because I'm not particularly great at accurately analyzing posts. This game, all we have to go off of is the previous basics game, so I'm finding it difficult to really strategize on the theme because I assume Dy didn't just use the same game over again. I think the roles are turning out to be not as basic as we were expecting, but other than that, there isn't much to discuss in that regard. I think there are going to be wolves everywhere, some active and some quiet players, so lynching someone just because they're quiet probably isn't going to get anywhere unless we get lucky. I've posting my concerns for snowy, obviously no one agrees with them, but it's not like I haven't stated some suspicion.

I never said one more vote would make plurality. I was reminding people to keep in mind that plurality will be in play starting the following day cycle.

This is exactly what this game will be trying to teach people. Don't bandwagon quickly because if you do and plurality (which will be in effect next lynch) will occur rapidly and an important player can easily be lynched without much thought or discussion.

This was my post. Nowhere did I mention we were close to or about to hit a plurality. Don't think we were. Was simply a reminder.

Just analyzing the theme of the game is not actually what WW is though. Just saying. Hopefully this game will get you a little more comfortable with what the game actually is about, which is post analysis.

And really, to all the newer players worried about being wrong...just let it go.

Anyway, I'm inclined to keep my vote where it is but may reconsider tomorrow.

Here are my thoughts for today:

1.
@Abnerrs, other players who are familiar with your playing style have said that you seem to post fluffy/humorous stuff on these threads. I don't know if this is true - or not true - because I am not familiar with you and I do not know anything about your playing style. If I am mistaken about any fluffiness in your posts- sorry. After LIS called you out earlier today, I noticed you posted some less "fluffy" posts.

2. @SkiOtter, I thought you decided to lynch cdo yesterday because cdo was "snapchatting/conversing" with you (and elsewhere) during the same time cdo claimed she was busy at work (and could not find extra time to check into this WW thread)? Maybe I'm wrong about this, I don't know.

However ... if you're still trying to help STL with his WW spreadsheet, are you aware that STL has already cast a lynch vote against Jil (and STL said he would lynch Jil on D2 if Jil was not lynched on D1)?

3. SkiOtter are you trying to get @Cyndia to post more comments in this game to get a "feeling" for Cyndia in this game?

Today, Cyndia posted:

Cyndia said:
I'm probably going to vote for someone who stayed on cdo since I'm sure wolves didn't want that ability to stay around.

I know that many players voted to lynch (and unlynch) cdo yesterday. However, I don't know anything about Cyndia. We've been told that you're at NAVC so you might not be able to check into SDN today.

4. @Cyndia, I don't know anything about you. We've been informed that you're at NAVC (along with @Trilt).

However, this afternoon, you posted below:

Cyndia said:

Since then, I don't know if you've given any thoughts about anything/anyone related to this WW game?

5. @HowConfusing, you mentioned that you have "suspicions" about STL and SkiOtter.

HowConfusing said:
I left my vote on cdo due to the turn of events on the role reveal. It ultimately came off as manipulative to me. And there was question as to whether such a role would even exist. I would not normally trust another person's word, but several people seemed to agree and wasn't able to find it myself before closing. (Although, in hindsight, this could've been wolfplay, I suppose)
Sorry cdo!
But now I definitely have suspicions for STL and maybe ski.

Care to say anything more to help us out? Otherwise, you've been quiet on this WW thread.

6. @SummerTheLynx, you seem convinced that @Jilary is a wolf. Right now, I don't know if Jil is a villager or a wolf. I'll wait to hear more from you, and from Jil, and from anyone else for that matter.

7. @Animal Midwife, although you've been fairly quiet today, your comments seem to be fluffy and sketchy to me. I haven't read any comments that offer thoughts or reasons for lynching (or not lynching) someone? Just wondering, that's all.

8. @LetItSnow posted a flurry of interesting comments about different players and WW game play. @DVMDream perked up when LIS appeared - so they must be pretty familiar with each other's style of WW play. Geez, I did not know that so many of you play in other WW games outside of SDN (e.g., @Trilt).

9. As you can tell, I'm still stumbling around and trying to get "feels" for everyone in this game. So, I'm just wondering out loud ... no worries.

I actually don't play in any games outside of SDN. I've just known LIS a long time through SDN. Many, many, many moons.

Some of us have known each other for many years and LIS and DVMD have played many many games together here.

And I said earlier that I was debating about unlynching her after her role reveal, but it was brought up by multiple other players that they didn't remember a day vigilante in dy's last game but remembered a 2 shot night vigilante and they said that it was weird that it'd be a day vigilante, so I kept my vote.

I voted for her because she hasn't been around, hasnt been game solving, and has had three posts during the whole game so far, one being today, when there's a 5 a day requirement. Trilt is also at the same conference and is able to find time to check in. While I understand they most likely do not have the same schedule at the conference, she should be able to find some amount of time to come on during her time there and post some thoughts.

Just wanted to chime in to say that I buy this explanation from Ski (for the time being, at least). I didn't end up in the "lynch cdo" camp, but I was majorly sketched out by this whole twist when it happened, and did consider switching my vote to cdo when this was combined with the other factors I was already considering. If I had been in the same spot as ski, I think I would have done the same thing she did.

Also, looking at all of this in light of how it panned out, I'd say Ski is either solid village, or is a really sneaky wolf. It would take some major guts for a wolf to push so hard to lynch a villager on D1, because you'd have to expect the kind of backlash that she initially got and hope that you could ride it out until the tide turned back in your favor as people decide to write it off as innocent new player-ish behavior (like I just did above^). I dunno...I just don't know that she would be that brash. I'd expect that kind of thing more from the veteran player contingent. (although, maybe I'm not giving skiski enough credit, and she is a master sneak after all).

I almost missed this little tidbit from Cyndia in the flurry of posts earlier today, so I'm glad a couple people highlighted it. First part sounds kinda like wolfy egging on, and I made a big skeptical face at the "I'm sure wolves didn't want that ability to stay around" part. @Cyndia -- you think a 2-shot vigilante in the hands of a new player is going to be a top priority for wolves to eliminate? ...yeah ohhh-k. This is only my second game, and even I think that is crazy talk. Even if it was that concerning of an ability, why wouldn't they just kill her during the night cycle and spare themselves the risk of exposure from lynch votes? You just moved yourself on to my "wolfy feels" list with that comment.

I'm going to have to disagree with the last part. In any game with a high percentage of vanillagers, wolves want to get rid of pretty much anyone with a role. Sure they would prefer to get rid of a seer, tracker, protector first, but anyone with a role is fairly high priority to eliminate. Also, wolves love it when villagers lynch the person they want to kill, because that leaves them open to kill someone else that they want to get rid of.

Day 2 Official Lynch Tally:

Jil (2)- STL, WZ,
STL (3)- Nyan, LIS, KC,

AM (2)- SAR, nessy,
Abs (1)- DocS
Raf (1)- Trilt
Cyndia (2) - Ski,

Alright, I spent huge portion of yesterday studying, so I'll be catching up now.

This was my post. Nowhere did I mention we were close to or about to hit a plurality. Don't think we were. Was simply a reminder.
soooooo now that I'm rereading this, I feel totally stupid. I read it as "with one more lynch we'll hit plurality." :smack::smack::smack:
so yeah, I'm kinda dumb and I apparently misread things, that's the moral of the story here.

skimming back through today, I'm really interested in hearing more from cyndia for the same reasons as posted above. Has been really quiet and has basically nothing as far as strategy goes. I could definitely vote there today, but I want to see if she can come on and talk more before we start and bandwagon. because plurality is now in effect. it is D2 and I can read.

I'm not getting the same reads on Abnerrs, but I guess I don't know her well. She seems to be a helpful villager right now, she's a heck of a lot better figuring out strategy this game than I am.

Hmmm. Bandwagons are nice.

****Unlynch cyndia, lynch cdo****

Thanks, I will be more thoughtful in the future! I did see others' strategy for picking cdoconn but it was still a bandwagon move since I didn't really look into it any myself as I'm still at work. I will do better day 2! (If I survive, which I'm not holding my breath)

I think the bigger issue, are we going to believe cdo if revealed? I'm a total noob but it certainly does seem like there's no hiding the role if there is a seer.

Going back through, I'm feeling kind of suspicious of Confusing...is this her first game? The whole jumping on cdoc bandwagon thing early on and then not backing off is making me wonder.

Kind of curious what posts are leading you to this conclusion

I'm kind of embarrassed to find out my posts are all useless/fluff. That's one of the main reasons I joined this game was to change my playing style and post more. I'll work on continued improvement from here.

Also, call me n00b or biased, but STL's helped me with his savantness through a couple different games.

Lynch Jil

Did you play the last basics game? STL claimed he was the seer D1 to get out of a lynch that he really should have been able to talk himself out of. The reason he claimed seer? To out the actual seer so the wolves could kill her.
Minor point, but STL outed himself because he couldn't talk his way out of the lynch any other way. About half of the villagers were really convinced that early posters had PM'd roles. Outing the seer was a nice way to spin the unfolding disaster, and we sort-of outed the tracker as a bonus, but I think STL and the rest of us would've preferred to avoid suspicion on day 1.

I don't think STL would be so bold as to push a villager day 1 if he were a wolf. Maybe he's wrong, but I think he's honestly convinced that you're a wolf. Your defense reads as casting shade on STL rather than clearing your own play, and that isn't helping.

lynch Jilary

Kind of curious what posts are leading you to this conclusion
I mean, there's not a lot, but I felt like she was still part of the cdo lynch in trying to figure out if a role reveal was good or not. And then when LIS outright questioned her about her play, she did answer him. LIS said her play isn't much different this game than other games. Even if her play seems wolfy to people, if it's normal for her, it doesn't make her wolfy.

She's neutral for me right now. Just your comment seemed odd to me when her posts haven't been all that strategy-filled. And if you are a villager - remember wolves are perfectly capable of posting in ways that seem helpful on the surface.

This made me go :eyebrow: I just skimmed her posts and most were jokes, not strategy. I know you already explained yourself but it still feels weird to me. I'm in class right now so I will analyze this more later, but for now

I can kind of see both sides of this argument. I mean, I am also a quieter poster and joined this game to try and get better at being active in game solving. Given that, I can see how "I'll be better! Lynch so and so because reasons not my own" is sketchy. But she also only had 20 minutes between her post and being called out (takes way longer for me to catch up on this thread!), so I'm willing to wait and see if any actually useful game solving comes out before I waffle off of my vote.

If I waffle, likely going for Cyndia for contributing very little to the game today and the sketchy post from earlier that's been quoted a few times. HowConfusing is still on my radar too, but not as much for today.

I can kind of see both sides of this argument. I mean, I am also a quieter poster and joined this game to try and get better at being active in game solving. I'm just laughing because just blindly following someone like that is basically the opposite of trying to learn and play better on your own.

Plus, it's STL. 😛

This made me go :eyebrow: I just skimmed her posts and most were jokes, not strategy. I know you already explained yourself but it still feels weird to me. I'm in class right now so I will analyze this more later, but for now

*****Lynch raf******

No I don't really feel that way at all. Yes there were a lot of jokes, but LIS asked for her analysis and she gave it. I don't really feel this comment is out of line.

Again, abs is neutral for me right now, but what else is she going to do when pushed to give analysis?

Good point, but my comment was responding to the serher comment on raf saying Abnerrs analysis is better than hers. If that makes ANY sense. So I'm just saying it's not out of line.

1. To be fair I could have said "I don't have a read on anyone yet and I have no feels" yadda yadda yadda as a response. That can be a valid response imo but I have some inklings of suspicions. My lists and feelings are extra vague right now because I'm flat out not going to make spreadsheets and spend hours with a fine toothed comb so I'm watching and waiting.
And B. I'm always suspicious of people that seem like they're trying not to attract too much attention. Like they want us to forget they're playing.

Lynch ally

I didn't like how quickly she jumped on the coop wagon but let it go because it was day 1 and only mildly questionable. But then she calls me out for a typo of all things and it seems to be grasping at straws for a reason to lynch somebody.

Those things aside I'm just getting a weird vibe that reminds me a little bit of last time she was a wolf in a game I played. Of course, that time she was a overly helpful if I recall but it got her lynched inmediately so it doesnt

What time does lynch close? I'm going to a castration at some point this morning (this place's scheduling is all over the place. Dood)

Hit enter too soon. Stupid thumbs.

Anyways I was basically just saying it doesn't surprise me to not see the same behavior.
