Just wondering if having a misdemeanor (like DWI) could hinder you from getting in. Should I just flat out tell them this from the beginning (like in my essays?) or is it not that big of deal and should not be mentioned? Thanks!

I don't think you need to write it in your essays. However, if there is a section to write this, you should explain what you did.

You will have to tell them in your secondaries - schools specifically ask you to explain anything on your record besides minor traffic violations. I think most schools will also make you submit a criminal background check on yourself to matriculate as well.

all of the schoools make you sign a waiver saying that they can conduct background checks...so they will find out sooner or later..
