This is my first cycle to apply. If I don't get in, I'll do an MPH, some international health work, AND go on the Amazing Race!!! 😀 Yeeeeah baby, no too many tears there. And give America's Next Top Model a shot, but at 5'2" I don't think I have a chance. That doesn't mean I wouldn't try!! But after that, I'd apply again. If that didn't work, I'd have to find more fun things to do til the next app cycle comes around like travel, film-making, or repeat any of the above. If I am most unfortunate in the admissions process, I'd eventually break down and settle for a job that just "pays the bills" ... Then I'd get over myself and genuinely pursue a career in my other passions. But after about ten years, I'd apply to MD school again. I'd never stop chasing the dream.

I think I would have done an MPH in social behavior and community health or a PhD in medical research. (As a side note, I am sad to see the number of people who list D.O. schools as a back-up plan.)

However, if nothing worked out for more school, I'd be with you on America's Next Top Model. Maybe there could be a show just for us: America's Next Petite Top Model... :0)

I don't consider osteopathic programs as a "backup", but there are few DO granting programs that I would rank as highly as some of the allopathic programs I plan on applying two- Kirksville being an exception.

You better throw DMU in that pile. Dropkick, you better be applying there next year. Or it's lights out!! 😱 😉

i have a question about backup plans...
if i want to do optomery for backup and I do some opt intern/volunteering work and if Med schools see that on the resume would they think you're undecided and give you less chance of going in?
same thing if i want to choose pharm as a backup
