I just got off the phone with AMCAS and they told me that any apps submitted today will take 4-6 weeks for processing. What the heck?? What happened to people being verified in a week? Have that many people submitted already? I mean, its only June 14th for crying out loud

Last year it seemed to take forever for them to verify my application. However, amcas, I believe notifies the schools that you're applying to them right away, even if your application isn't approved yet. Several schools (or atleast some) had me fill out secondaries long before my application was approved.

Remember, people are getting MCAT scores tomorrow, so there is gonna be a flood of apps coming in. That's why we were urging you guys to send the app ASAP if it was feasible in your case. However, you'll still be fine, I'm sure. Don't stress!

Yeah AMCAS usually takes a while. It took at least a month for mine to go through...

The 4-6 weeks is just their default info they tell everyone, no matter what time you submit. You should be okay, it'll get exponentially worse tonight/tomorrow when April MCAT scores are released.

well i submitted my app on friday, but theres still firggin 1 transcript missing which was sent out in the mail on june 7th,,,,how long does it take for transcripts?

June 7 is not all that long ago. Be calm. 😱

However, do keep an eye on it. I'm not one to moan too much about AMCAS--remember, they have a whole lot of transcripts to collect and match up and whatever else they do in this mysterious "verification" process. If it doesn't show up as having been received in another week or two, send another.

Transcripts are cheap. Worrying about whether AMCAS will find a lost transcript costs you brain cells.

I agree that the "4-6 weeks" speech is something they tell everyone just to cover their asses. It should be done sooner, but they tell you that just in case it takes a little longer. Don't worry about this stuff. Everyone else is in the same boat as you -- remember that. Your life over the next months will be a lot easier if you adopt a more chill approach to the application process.

I think I submitted second week of June -- I was processed in 2 days

It can take several days (read 2 weeks or more) to realize that they have a transcript you've sent them. But you're still REALLY early in the game and I'll be willing to wager that your application will be processed before the first transmission date to schools.

Remember that schools don't start downloading apps from AMCAS until late July so if you submitted your AMCAS already you should be fine.

Good luck!

Oh crap. Reading this thread makes me feel superbehind... especially with the flood of April MCATers submitting tomorrow... I feel like I'm so behind. I'm planning on submitting at the end of this week - it wouldn't have made much of a difference for me to submit much earlier, because one of my schools only releases transcripts starting June 10. Plus I'm not done with my PS yet.

anyway, please tell me i'm paranoid for feeling behind... this is SDN-induced paranoia, right? because anything in june is reasonably early? right? (please tell me i'm right) :scared: 😛

Yeah, anything before July 4th. Just remember how many people won't submit until august, sept, octo.

I agree with everyone else...don't worry...you're still early!
