I have 52 credits right now, none of them are science credits, and a 2.717, or 2.4 by MD standards because I had two semesters of straight F's, I'm transferring to a Uni in Fall 2013, in your opinion, will medical schools admissions look past those two semesters if they were an isolated incident?

If you have straight As from here on in, and ace the mCAT (>30) then yes, then'll recognize them as you weren't ready for college then but matured.

Key question is WHY did you do so badly? Will the new school fix things?

A little addendum to Goro's post: DO schools may look past those old numbers if you use grade replacement, however two semesters of F's is going to blacklist you from MD programs, even if you somehow get your GPA up to somewhere near 3.0.

There's still an infinitesimal chance you could make it into MD, but that chance is so low that it would be waste of time and money to apply that route.

Hate to be the bearer of rough news.

You forgot SMP, his (possible) ticket in the hole.

While you're mostly right, he should try anyways (what do you have to lose besides money?) and an SMP (with linkage) can help out tremendously as long as he gets his GPA above 3.0 and a 4.0 in the SMP (and a high as heck MCAT score).

Although OP, 2 semesters of straight F's is really something... get ready for a LOT of explaining, extra years of school and an SMP to save something like that. Some people here (Dr. Midlife comes to mind) usually has sound advice, but it may not be what you want to hear.

I would just do DO if I were you, MD is going to be a long struggle for you.

Edit: I had a bad case of stupid.

Would it change anything if I said these classes that I got F's in were fine art classes taken at a CC?

Sorry, but I can't resist: "You can't fix stupid" -Forrest Gump

It might. Cocur with previous posters that DO schools will look far more favoralby to you for reinventing yourself.
