bad evaluation

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
how much will a abad evaluation affect your chances at fellowship? do they see these??😕

A single bad evaluation, assuming it's not something that's cause for immediate dismissal, will be of no importance, especially as an intern. Evaluations never tell the real story for post-residency jobs - that information gets passed by phone.

it wasn't terrible...but more like : satisfactory...improved throughout rotation- but just needs to be more organized, prompt etc... how do you actually get in good for a fellowship? what things actuall are important? most of the time im too knackered in the morning for a personality anf=d i think this hurts me a little

Is this a med student evaluation? (your profile lists you as a medical student)

At any rate, I wouldn't call the above a "bad evaluation" especially for surgery. Seems pretty standard to me. If I were anonymous here I'd tell you some of the things that were said about me!

Everyone knows evals are highly subjective and not much credence is given to them unless it becomes a pattern and everyone thinks you're a pretty poor student/resident.

"Knackered" - are you training abroad?

Fellowship is almost all based on ABSITE scores, LORs and phone calls from faculty in the field. You should probably show interest in the field...whether its doing some research, attending conferences, etc. especially if its a competitive fellowship.

While a personality is appreciated early in the morning, it sounds like you have more of a problem getting there on time (which is a problem for surgeons...if you have a first start case, you HAVE to be there on time, otherwise you F up everyone's schedule to follow) and being organized. Again, if you are a medical student, I wouldn't worry about it...if an intern, its early and you have lots of time to improve those things and get great evals for fellowship.
