Hi all,

So I was pretty good at math in high school but my school's math department was a joke. I got a 23 on ACT math even though my overall was a 30. I took a community college calc 1 course and got an A but then I got to my current institution (UMich) and, well...

Intro Stats- B
Genetics (I did a lot better in the molecular half of the class but sucked at the quant half)- B-
P Chem- B-
Physics 1- Currently taking but expecting something in the B range

I did get an A- in a biostats class but I didn't have to do any calculating, it was more conceptual.

With the exception of genetics, I have gotten all A/A- grades in my biology classes and did well in the orgo sequence as well.

Now, don't tell me to give up medicine because that's unhelpful. Has anyone had a similar profile of poor math grades and successfully gotten into MD programs? What did your interview say about the grades if anything?

Second question, should I do an smp or other grad program before MD school, would I have to take more math heavy classes/ retake p chem and physics or could I just take more bio classes to boost my BCMP GPA. I know my top choice, MSU MD, requires at least a C for pre-reqs but idk if that means a B- won't kill me if my general BCMP GPA is good.

Thanks!

MSU as in Michigan State?
