I find myself in a position I thought I would never be in. I practically failed a class: D+ in my senior writing class. I also got a C+ in Pathophysiology. I had chronic migraines/headaches the last month of classes after finishing Full-time training at the hospital. You see, the hospital I got hired in at offers tuition reimbursement. I thought a few weeks of torture would be worth saving money in the near future considering the medical school I wanted to apply to is in their backyard. I wasn't planning on the headaches, especially considering I took a semester off to address burnout and take care of my medical issues. Turns out, I was misdiagnosed and was given a diagnoses of hypothyroidism after going to the ER twice during finals week. I showed my professors the documentation. Two of my professors were accommodating while my one professor was not. She would not accept my paper, and as a result I missed out on 30% of my grade.

I am retaking both courses and plan to write an appeal. Overall, how does this look? My GPA is now a 3.57.

As is it doesn't look good on paper. See if you can get retroactive withdrawals. If not, well, it doesn't kill your chances outright. But depending on what state you're from, you could have an uphill battle from here. Kill the MCAT if you haven't already. That GPA is borderline competitive and salvageable, if necessary.

I am from Michigan. I decided to pursue a Master's (MPH) degree in the mean time but am planning on still applying to medical school sooner or later.

From what I've read around here, a MPH doesn't really help with salvaging low undergrad grades. Going for a special master's program (SMP) where you'll be taking all science courses may be more beneficial. It's your choice, but do some research before committing to a MPH.

3.57 isn't a bad cumulative grade. It is fairly competitive.

With your secondary application, you can explain that you performed badly because of [blank] and you have documentation to prove it.
