this is a stupid question.

we've had some classes ending. points for the class are posted, actual grades no, and people are freaking out about what they atually got (assuming if there is a curve)

so i hear some students go right up and ask the prof, or email them.. isnt that bad? I mean, they cant tell you what you get before the grades are actually posted, and if there were a curve, they cant tell you that either for privacy reasons? has anyone asked a professor this, if the grades take more than two weeks to post? I mean yeah, maybe you know what you did on the last exam but it is nerve racking not to know if you passed the course or got a B, whatever.

no one has told me what the prof said. id love to ask 'em too, but i dont want to piss anyone off. would you wait another week for the grade or email them?

All of this depends on how well you know the Prof. Most of my pre-clin teachers couldn't pick me out of a lineup but there were a few who I could have gone to. I don't think it's that big a deal to ask if there will be a curve.

On the other hand it's only been two weeks, I'd just wait. Plus, with other people are bombarding him/her, your teacher might be annoyed. You don't want to be the one that sets off the explosion.

this is med school. Stop worrying about grades unless you think you failed, or else, people will label you as a GUNNER!

I generally will post grades on our Blackboard site. I am not allowed to e-mail (or give out grades in person). The other thing is that worrying and bugging the professor isn't going to change what you got. You get what you get when you get it. Pass or fail, it's the grade that you earned.

yeah, im .4 points from passing so im worried--it was a hard final and more than half the class failed..but i see your point. i guess its best to wait and study for my exams like i passed instead of feeling like **** everyday.

If more than half the class "failed" then either the professor made the class way too hard or there is going to be a change in the rubric and most people will end up passing.

Medical schools aren't in the business of failing people out, I don't think you need to worry about passing unless you're in the 10th percentile or lower.
