I have a total of 8 rec letters in my AMCAS right now. The maximum I'm sending to any one school is 5, and I have five or six different schools that are getting five letters. Typically three of these are professor letters required by the school, and the other two are either both of my research mentors or one mentor and an employer, depending on what the school wants. All of these are schools with "no maximum limit" so I know I'm not explicitly breaking any rules by sending so many... But does it help or hurt my application to send 5 letters to a school?

By MD LORs, do you mean like a letter from a doctor I shadowed? I do have one of those and it's currently being sent to 6 out of my 15 schools, maybe I should reconsider

5 good letters (no fluff) doesn't seem bad unless the schools have a maximum of 3-4 letters.
