Ok. My last name is Spiker. So if all goes as planned, one day I'll be Dr.Spiker.

Which, if I was a client, probably would seem funny or give you the heebie jeebies. Dr. Spiker -- that's only one step away from Dr. Hackemoff.

Anyways, does anyone else out there have a similar last name situation?

Would you consider changing your last name? I've toyed with the idea, but can't think of one I like and the paperwork seems annoying.

Yes, I know it's a silly post. But I've just gotten done with my finals and feel like my dorkiness is justified 🙂

I know a Dr. Kill.

Have also encountered Dr. Angst.

I amused myself once by googling "Pepper, M.D."

There's some cool (rather than bad) ones in my class- we will have vets who are Dr Surgeon, Dr Jolly, and, perhaps best of all Dr Rabbitt.

In a non-veterinary field I know a Dr Love!

I also knew a guy studying medicine who will be Dr Batman!

Dr Batman!!! I like that!!

When I was a kid, my doctor was Dr. Payne.

I have a friend finishing school this year and his last name is Evil!! So he is going to be Dr. Evil!! Can anyone beat that?

My dentist is Dr. Mueller (pronounced just like "molar"). How appropriate. 🙂

When I'm dating a guy, I often think about whether his last name would sound okay with a "Dr." in front of it - these are important considerations! 😛

Those are all too funny! I worked for a vet named Dr. Katz, and had dentists named Dr. Pearl and Dr. Whiting. 😳

Dr.Osama
Beat it..................

Peace to the world.............😎
TuTuT

I will be Dr Law....Not as great as Dr Evil, but still seems something to consider. My sister is Dr Hook.

I worked with a Dr. Quick and Dr. Tallant!

My last name sucks for a "Doctor" but if i marry by boyfriend I'll be Dr. Rocker. I like that a lot better haha

I'm jealous of all the funny last names!

Dr. Katz is my favorite!

it was a little daunting on our first day of class to find out our anatomy professor's name is Dr. Fails 🙂 (little side note... best teacher ever!!!)

rofl

I knew a guy in undergrad (who went on to attend medical school) who had a last name of Pepper. 🙂 He'd be out of school, now, in his first year of residency, so there's at least one non-cola Dr. Pepper out there.

When growing up, my dentist's name was Dr. Needleman...

I work with a Dr. Saver. It's her married name..I've always thought that worked out well😎

I see a Dr. Heck for my eyes.

Knew a human doc named Dr. Hurt, I think it sits up there alongside Dr. Payne...not quite a Dr. Evil though! haha

wow...reading is definitely not my strong suit!

My advisor is Dr. Payne and there is a dentist in town: Dr. Wisdom:laugh:

I heard of a Dr. Love veterinary radiologist; she was/is available for telemedicine consults.

I can't think of any other good ones at the moment. .. 😎

i got my wisdom teeth extracted at the office of Dr. Bunch and Dr. Payne. i told them that i preferred Dr. Bunch as my surgeon. 😳

Dr. Doctor would be a good one too. 😀

Haha, Dr. Payne is my favorite.
My pediatrician's name was dr. baum (bomb)

I have a friend with the last name Blood... don't believe he is going into any medical professions though. Too bad. =)

In four years, mine will be Dr. Ha so I don't believe I can say much! And no, I don't know any jokes.

There's a professor named Dr. Pepper at my school!
My last name has six syllables, so methinks I should start contemplating suitable abbreviations, just to be prepared...

With my maiden name people would have thought I was stuttering when I introduced myself. I would have been Dr. Derr. I have a much better last name now.

My husband's childhood dentist was Dr. Toothaiker. He said he had to be a dentist with that last name 🙂

YES! Very important! The guy I'm currently dating has an ugly last name... therefore... I don't think I'll be staying with him 😛 j/k. I think I'd keep my last name.

If I do end up marrying another Dr. though, I think I will def have to keep my last name or at least hyphenate mine because it'll get too confusing. I used to do alumni calling and when I would say "May I speak with Dr. so and so" the person on the other line would say "which one?" and it would be kind of awkward.

I know a Dr. Furr, DVM 🙂
Me too -- is yours an equine vet? 🙂 I have to say, I never really thought about his name before . . .

I've driven past the office of Sheila Brush, DDS. She's right down the street from the Barber Funeral Home, which made my dad proclaim that he never wanted to go there for a shave.:corny:

Woo, old thread!

I saw a Dr. Slaughter listed on the board at a medical practice... hm.

Also know a Dr. Love, veterinarian... trim her dogs' nails all the time. No, she doesn't do it herself. :d

I just know I'll end up calling my boss's husband by his first name since I can't call them both Dr. _____. I mean... "Dr. _____, it's Dr. _____ on the phone." Lol.

Yup, there's a guy in the agriculture college here named Dr. Slaughter. Sadly, he works on crops, not animal science. 😛

There's a professor at Davis VM whose name is Dr. Buckpitt, no joke! And if you see his picture on the website it gets 10x better. I can't imagine going through life with that name, not to mention his first name, Alan, can easily be mangled into Anal. :meanie:

I've also met a Dr. Ferrier.

My Dr. name would be boring, not to mention easily mispronounced, so I'm planning on marrying a man with a neat last name. 😉

My Dr. name wouldn't be anything special with my maiden name, and I do like my boyfriend's name... However... he's starting medical school next year, we're likely going to get married in a couple years. Funny how becoming a vet might encourage me to hyphenate my name just to avoid the confusion you guys brought up, I hadn't even thought about that! :lame:

I love his last name though. It's all ethnic and pretty, and mine is a boring western name. 😛

Ethnic, huh?

Yeah, people will come in to see me, and they'll say... wait, I thought you were Hispanic. Or, they won't speak English. I don't speak anything else! Oh dear.

Haha... I love ethnic names! My boyfriend's is Arabic though. And I am a very pale, freckly-skinned, blue-eyed, light-haired girl who clearly looks like my Scottish and German roots. I'm sure I'll get a few double takes.

If I take his name I just have to hope I don't get any racist/prejudice douche bags.. rawr!
