Let me make it easy on everyone who thinks NYU is this or that in a negative aspect. Rest assure that this is a FACT...When you graduate dental school I dont care if its Harvard, UCONN or NYU..big name or bad name...You will find that a dental degree is only a license for you to be able to practice and learn more. I know this because I have WORKED at a dental office for the last 5 years and seen some of the best and some of the not so great dentists come in and out of that office. IT REALLY IS WHAT YOU PUT IN THAT WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. YOUR SCHOOL WILL NOT MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. YOU YOURSELF WILL MAKE YOU A GREAT DENTIST. Just like we all did in undergrad, the school did not make us it helped but in the end it was the individuals determination that guided them to this point. I am not going to NYU although I did interview there and was accepted. I do not believe any of the rumors that some people say especialy since I asked several students when I was there.

I just think that it is sad that so many people on this forum like to only talk about a negative aspect of a school. Keep in mind at one point all of you including myself just wanted to get into A dental school. Keep your feet on the ground PEOPLE!!! LOL

AMEN!

I chose my school based more on the city that my family will be living in than anything else. Some of the smartest people I have ever met are the product of Community Collages!

Ditto UofM01!

I know in my case, location is key for me choosing which dental school to attend. People have different reasons for the schools they attend...

Yeah I'm w/UofM01 on this...lets keep ourselves grounded! 🙂

Word !!!! UofM01

I support your view totally. It is what u make out of Dental school (Life in general ) that matters. By the way ,what are the negative things people say about NYU?

If you are paying $$ out of your own pocket to attend a school, might as well pick the one that will give u the most attention and provide you with the best resources. Why would you want to pay big $$ and go to a crowded school where you are fighting over for a place to sit in a library with the medical students? Its true that the school does not make the student, but why make it harder on yourself?

My desire is to become a dentist, and I ask nothing more. I applied to NYU and I am still waiting for a response, If I get accepted I would go without a doubt. If there was a school somewhere in the US and it was no more then a mere shack w/ one room and no running water, and it was the only place to reach my goal, then believe me that I would be a happ-happ-happy SOB eager to attend. I agree w/ those that pursue a genuine dream; to become a dentist. Regards!!

As a fourth year dental student at NYU, I have first hand experience of NYUCD. It is large and expensive, but it gives me the best clinical training in my opinion. From my EXPERIENCE, I have growned a lot and feel very CONFIDENT in my clinical skills and diagnosis. NYU is the school for me, as it will be for others who come to it with a positive attutude. As to negative comments, I would really like to know who in this forum has first hand experience with NYU and really not like it? Or all these negative comments second hand information based on disinformation. I would be happy to answer ANY questions regarding NYU. I have been through their transiions, and have experienced the bad side as well as the positive aspects of it. Anyone willing to show me exactly how bad NYU is....I would like to discuss with them the issue on this forum. Untill then, as UofM stated...keep your feet on the ground people...You have yet to start dental school...you are not an Oral Surgeon, Orthodontist, nor endodontist yet....don;t get the big head yet. Till then peace.
