One school out of 11 had faith in me. I got 1 interview, 1 acceptance in December out of 11. I am a white chic. I am 24. I feel eternally grateful to this school. It is a life changing moment. My statistics are:
Undergraduate cGPA: 2.9
Undergraduate sGPA: 2.7
Graduate GPA at this institution: 3.5
Lot of experience
DAT
Biology 20
Chem 19
Organic 16

nice.. congrats. It is not all about the grades.. they always say that.. even though sometimes it is hard to not think that is all they look at... but obviously you had something special on ur app. that they really liked, and saw a potential in you.


Good luck, and I hope you do well in D-school, bc I am a firm believer that undergrad GPA does not correctly indicate how well suited you are for d-school.

I'm not sure why you are asking...or even if you really are...asking this question. Maybe it is rhetorical.

My answer would be...you have an upward trend in your grades with a 3.5 graduate GPA. You also don't have exceedingly low stats. Your 16 in Orgo and RC are cut offs at many schools, but still ARE AT the cutoff, and then your other academic subjects are average or above average on the DAT. In fact, you have a high RC, which is often quoted by many schools as the BEST predictor on the DAT of academic success.

As for other reasons...you don't say anything else about yourself to even begin to know what other qualities they saw in you. Again...not sure why you posted...not sure if you're actually looking for a justification for why they took you. Good job getting in. Good to see you are happy about getting in.

Louisville looks for relatively high GPA which you got (3.5), they're okay with average DAT. KY is a conservative state and Louisville is a conservative dental school...you're from SC, they think you'll fit in just right. Just a theory.

Doing graduate work and having a 3.5 GPA was probably your saving grace.

16 is the cut off - so you made it.

And since you're from that area, that probably didn't hurt either.

My theory would be that they were impressed with you on the interview day. I'm from Louisville, and i know it's more competitive for non-residents. They probably saw something special in you during the interview! Congrats, i hope you like the school!

wow you gave me home....Congrats! my gpa is low as well but not below 3.0 & havnt taken DAT...but i usually do bad on national tests

Congrats, that is all you need. Remember that the averages of dental schools is an AVERAGE. Your 16 in OC was balanced by the other acceptee who got a 25 in OC.

you got in because they know you'll make a great dentist...and i'm just holding out for my chance! I think you probably have something great about that they saw, and you should be really proud. I have similar stats to you, higher science gpa, but slightly lower graduate gpa. There is hope, and you prove it. Congrats!

congrats, it probably had to do with your personality or amazing looks. You should post a photo of yourself and we'll be the judge of that. Then you can narrow it down to one of the two. 😀 But seriously congrats!
