i work for a chain as an intern and soon to be pharmacist. I asked my DM for a week off, 2 months in advanced for a vacation. I was told that I would not be made any promises for time off then because they don't know what my schedule will be then (ie floater or store etc) but they're gonna "write it down" and make note of it. I'm trying to book a vacation and hope that they'll allow me time off??? WTF do i do?

it happens quite a bit. That's retail for you. The walgreen I intern at only make schedules 2 weeks in advance for interns and techs, so they really don't know. Luckily, I'm on a pretty friendly terms with the senior tech that does the scheduling, so I get the days off I want. But I can see that being a problem for others. Keep in mind that you are just an intern, as long as they don't conflicting with your class schedules, they tend to treat you just like as another "super tech" at their beck and call.

Maybe you can talk to whoever is in charge of scheduling, or maybe make friends with few other interns/techs, so they would be willing to take your place if you get scheduled. That's why I love my other hospital internship. You know your schedule 3 months in advance, and it's super easy to swap schedules and pick up extra shifts.

Book the vacation, and if you don't get the time off, just trade shifts. (assuming you have enough staff who are flexible)
