What is the sum of the coefficients in the following redox equation when balanced?

MnO4- + I- -> I2 + Mn2+

I can never figure out to do the balancing questions.
Please help😱

answer: 10 I- + 16 H+ + 2MnO4- -> 5I2 + 2Mn2+ + 8 H2O = 43

read the blue kaplan book....it will take a couple of times to figure it out but once you do, your gold...the hard part at the begining is understanding and determining what the charge is on each side. once that is figured out, its easy to add electron and cancel them out from both sides.

just read the kaplan book a couple of times

Mn goes from +7 to +2 for a total loss of 5 electrons.
I goes from -1 to O for a total gain of 1 x 2 electrons.
To balance loss and gain multiply loss by 2 and the gain by 5. These are the numbers you use to balance the equation.
