I know there have been plenty of threads here in the past about working while going to school, but I don't remember any that specifically addressed working while on rotation.

What do you guys think about it? Can you pull 40hrs+/week on rotation and still get in hours at your job? I guess my biggest concern is just how much extra time am I going to have to spend on "rotation projects" at home. I'm guessing this will vary greatly from rotation to rotation, so it seems like it would be difficult to commit to a steady amount of hours at a job. Fortunately my current job gives me quite a bit of flexibility, so hopefully they'll be understanding if I need to work substantially less.

It will really depend on each individual rotation. Many (most) of my rotations required commutes which really impacted my free time. All of them will have projects. Some preceptors give you time during the day to work on them and others do not. I still always spent at least one weekend doing projects. You will just have to play it by ear and adjust your schedule for each rotation.

I was able to work some time during my rotations...I would work every Saturday and 1-2 evening shifts. Like the previous poster said it all depends. Some rotations require a longer commute, some you don't always get out on time... It also depends on how flexible you employer is and if they understand that you may be late every once in a while. It is doable with the projects, but you just have to stay up on things.
