Hello DAT takers!

If there were any changes that you would make to the Barron's DAT BIOLOGY section, what would it be? Did you find the review book useful? Would you recommend it to future DAT takers? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Biology section?

Did you want more questions? Less content? More content? More pictures?

I have an opportunity to write the section over again for an educational test prep review book. Please let me know if you have any inputs and ideas. Thanks!

hi there
I used barron's along with cliffs
Barron's has ALOT of mistakes!
eg. it says gram positive twice rather than gram positive and gram negative
my main concern was that I lost a bit of trust in it cause it had so many mistakes.
also, it has no where near enough information to get a great score on the BIO section.

Leejunsoo,

I hear you. I felt that way too when I used Barron's 8 years ago...wow, I'm old. So I am thrilled to be given an opportunity to author the next project - especially for the Biology.

Let me know, when you're not busy studying, if you have time to list out more errors and typos and your opinions. I want to make the next Barron's test prep book better for my private students and as well as for future DAT takers. I also used other Biology books to supplement during my DAT prep.

I made note of the error you mentioned. Thanks!

just start the book from scratch and make it like Cliffs + the extra physiology stuff.

Barron DAT Biology is one of the most helpful test prep materials that I used, especially the figures. I literally had two questions on the DAT that I derived the answers from the figures. As I like to put it, Barron Bio review is short and sweet!

You're probably referring to the Barron's AP Biology book...

Barron's DAT Bio was, IMO, complete trash. no offense.

Hmmm, Taking everything into consideration. Don't worry, please speak freely, I do not work for Barrons, I was just given an opportunity to write for their next project - DAT Biology, and having taken the DAT before and gone through the studying like you all, I totally get it. Didn't seem like the opinions 8 years ago changed from today, haha.

Thanks for inputs so far!

I actually meant the Barron DAT Bio, not the AP Bio. I found it to be quite helpful (minus the errors)... as I said before, the figures are tremendously helpful. They were the last thing I reviewed two days before the test, and coincidentally two questions were related to the figures. I also found other sections of Barron DAT prep to be helpful... I love their advice on RC and PAT (well, the line-counting doesn't seem to work well in the real thing).
