just wondering if anyone used barron's book to study for the dat. was it helpful in representing the covered material well? if not, what would you recommend? thanks!

Great for PAT, crap for everything else. Definetely read the PAT section of barrons. Get the Kaplan book and buy the subject test from someone on this forum along with DAT achiever and topscore and you will be set. 😀

barron's pat section looks easy. some questions in the pat were similar to topscore and kaplan.

barrons is ok, has good PAT explanations great outlines for science sections but you cant use barrons alone to study for the DAT, you will score miserably. and barrons PAT is easier than kaplan or topscore.

Yeah, let me clarify. Barron's explains the rules and techniques for the pat. If you are not familiary with the PAT test, then I reccommend reading that section. Hope that helps! 😀

I agree with Parkwod! Although I did buy the Barron's guide as I was starting to accumulate studying materials, I didn't use it much and wouldn't recommend it to anyone--especially as their sole study strategy! The science sections were very VERY generic and only brushed over SOME (not even all) of the required topics and the practice tests were full of errors! 😡 As for PAT, I did read this section for the strategies--which were alright--however, I think that overall you could put your money towards a MUCH BETTER book that you could actually use for more than just a few PAT hints. Hope this helps! 🙂

The Barron's strategies for the PAT is good, make sure you know that. Besides that, everything in there is garbage. There are so many errors in that book. I wouldn't bother reading any of it. Go to the bookstore, read the PAT section, and leave the book there. Don't buy this garbage like I did. 🙂

the barrons is total garbage only good for pat section, dont waste that 15 bucks. Go buy the barrons from barnes and nobles, photocopy the 2 tests it has then return it, its not worth anything. If u want to review buy the kaplan book or get it from the library, even the 2002 edition will due they never update it.
