Is anyone here planning on attending the Barry University Biomedical Sciences program beginning fall 2006? I recently got accepted and mailed my deposit yesterday. I am also moving from NY and am looking for any advice on nice areas close to the campus which have nice rental apartments. Thanks in advance.

what are your stats? I'm thinking about applying for the fall semester...guess I should get on that if you have already been accepted?!! :scared:

How does Barry compare to the other SMPs?

Are you accepted for the 18 month or 1 year program? I'm thinking about applying to the 18 month one myself if things fall thru at a couple others.

Im actually accepted into the 3rd option since i am only taking the MCAT in august. For the first semester I will be in option 3, then after the MCAT, i will be transferred to option 2 (2 yr).

I am originally from South Florida. I think Barry is a very good program, but there are two disadvantages.

They have an official link only with St. George's even though some of their students have gone to University of Miami.

The area is pretty gnarly N.E. 125th St is not that safe around the school. There are lots of homes with bars on the windows. I would not stay near the school.

I have also applied for Barry this fall. how long afterwards were you accepted? was there an interview or process? also, did any of you have problems sending letters of rec to them, or the admissions office not receiving them? I applied a month ago and every time I call they say they havent received my letters...i write my profs and they say they have sent them already, twice!

any advice... :scared:

From, what I remember, the application does not get transferred to the GMS division until ALL requirements are received. The commitee then reviews them and issues a decision shortly thereafter. From application complete to letter in my hand was less than 2 weeks for me. If you call the general admissions office, they should be able to tell you which parts have been received using just your SS#.

Hi every one. I will be attending Barry this upcoming Fall and will on the One year track. If anyone is going there and are looking for a roommate then please PM me. I'm looking and it would be cheaper with roommates. So if interested just contact me.

Thanks....

i got into the 2 year program. im from miami and it isnt too safe around there. its not like the murder capital of miami or anything like that, but if youre from suburbia or some rural place in the south or midwest, it will most likely scare the crap out of you. if youre used to living in the "hood" then i guess its fine. you should try finding a place not so "hood-like" in miami, but that will definitely require at least 1 or maybe 2 roommates since it is extremely costly living in miami these days.

If anyone is attending Barry, and would like to have old lectures, exams, notes, please PM me. Thanks
