Hey everyone, my name is Ai-Quoc (I know you can't tell the gender from the name unless you're Vietnamese but I'm a guy haha) and I was wondering who else is finally in this program, maybe we can get to know each other etc. I'm from Jacksonville FL, graduated from Notre Dame this past May and now I'm going to do the 1 year program at Barry! The only other person that I know is my friend Brenda and we are actually going to live together (we're searching for places to live as we speak...so expensive!) I'm retaking the MCATs in August which I'm a little scared of since I didn't do so well last time but I'm hoping to bring the score up and do well in this program. Alright, hope to hear from some people soon!

Hey,

I got into the Barry one year program as well, and I am still waiting on some other schools like BU and pcom. So far it seems like Barry is the place I am going to be attending next year. Are there alot housing around the school, probably visit the school at the end of july

yea it looks as if there are a ton of places to live, the problem is finding the right place for the right price...and it seems as though it's pretty pricey to live near the school! my friend and i are looking for a place as we speak!

General Question....are you guys planning on going to florida med schools?
and if so, how much does the program help you(acceptance rates)...b.c. the only thing I don't like about the program is that they don't have their own medical school

PLEASE tour the area around Barry before living there. It is NOT a good area to live in. Please be safe. I was in Miami this weekend and checked out the area. My mom was pretty scared.

yea i plan on applying to florida med schools, i heard that the acceptance rates are decent.

I've heard mixed reviews about Barry. I know a few people who did it and ended up in the caribbean still. They told me that the school has been placing more people in the caribbean than in the US, or in D.O. schools.
It just seemed too risky for me, expensive-and I decided not to even apply.

I think it will help you IF your cumulative gpa is already competetive (3.4).If not, I doubt it will help as far as getting into a Med school.

What are your gpas? Do you know of anyone who the program helped?

my GPA is a 3.4 as is....and the reason I chose Barry was because of the things people had previously said (and it's the only program that I got accepted to)
