Ok so a little background I am applying to Dental schools right now I just finished my DAT today didn't go so well 🙁 I will apply to as many school as I have to that give me a chance to get in (even private school, money isn't an issue for me). I have a 3.6 GPA with an upward trend from 3.3 freshman year, it will probably go up during senior year as well. My extracurricular activities are very good, was an officer for a pre professional health club at my school (the largest organization at my school) as well as President of the largest fraternity at my school. I have well over 500+ community service hours. 100+ hours of shadowing. Now the bad: I rushed my DAT studying so I could apply this cycle and ended up getting a 17 AA my lowest section was QR: got a 15 😕 also didn't get anything over 20. Will take it again if I have to, the nerves got to me and I ended up doing worse in every section than any practice test I took from Qvault/Bootcamp/CrackDat also ended up studying way to in depth stuff that never ended up showing up everything was super general. But anyways I was wondering if you think I have a chance to get into USC NYU BU or really any school at this point lol. I know I'm not like most of you guys on here scoring 20s and applying to top schools, I just want to get in somewhere :xf: let me know what you think my chances are at getting in and where I should apply. Thanks guys!

I will take it again if I have to but would much rather start dental school early than have to wait a year, retake it even if it means getting into a better school.

Everything else seems good, but DAT is probably just too low if you're applying this late in the cycle. If you'd applied earlier, you might have had a shot. I think you might want to just retake the DAT and try again next year. Get some good study time, no rushing - will help you a lot. Sorry if that seems harsh, just giving my opinion.

Either way, best of luck to you.

Is money really not an issue? It's low and it's getting late. But if you have the cash, may as well throw your name in the hat.

I would say that your chances are a bit low not only because of the dat, but also because schools will not have your finished application until september at the earliest.. As others have said, if paying for dental school is no issue you should have no trouble paying for the applications this cycle anyways, and having a low chance at acceptance is still better than no chance. I would not suggest retaking until you are certain that you will have to apply for next year's cycle.

As for what schools you should apply to, try and figure that out yourself, because it is you who will hopefully be attending one of them. All I can do is suggest that you apply to as many as possible, just to maximize the chance of getting some interviews. Good luck!
