Basic exam - going to be postponed? anyone know?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if the exam is still going to be scheduled for June? Also how long did everyone study for and what resources did you use?

No idea if it will be postponed.

I used faust and truelearn, and they were enough to get top 10%. Other people used accrac podcasts in addition. I didnt use it, so not sure how helpful it is.

I studied for 2 months.

yeah I started studying 2-3 weeks after I got my CA-1 ITE score.

Good luck. I thought it was much easier to study than the ITE since you only have to study the basic topics

does the score on the basic matter or is it virtually p/f?

I went through truelearn once for ITE and another time less intensely for BASIC the month before the test. Read baby miller first couple months of CA1 year and then big miller high yield chapters throughout the year. Got too 10%.

At this point I would bet the exam goes as scheduled. If we see the peak of this thing in April, I think an exam in June would still be on.

As someone who used to chair our fellowship application committee - no one cares about top 10%, we place much more emphasis on ITE score. It’s virtually pass/fail.

That being said most who do very well on ITE also tend to do well on BASIC. Just how standardized tests work.

In general, though, scores matter much less than for residency apps. Really no one cares for jobs.

I would expect the exam to go forward. They might have to split it over more than a few days but testing centers will be innundated this summer with the backlog they will have to catch up on. Some are already reopened actually for stuff like EMT tests.
