"Basic" science LOR's

On their website, some schools specify that 1 or 2 of the LOR's should come from basic science professors. How strict are they on the "basic" part? Which courses are included in the basic sciences besides BCP? I was planning to get LOR's from my gen. microbio. and cell physio professors...

Best option is to call them and ask. One of the schools I applied to required a letter from a bio professor and I was able to substitute it with a letter from my Chronic Disease Epidemiology professor, but I got permission first.
