Hello, I was wondering if it was necessary to buy the 9th Ed of the Bates Guide to Physical Exam book or if people thought that say the 7th or 8th editions would be sufficient?? Do they change that much? Thanks!

Let me be the first to say that it's not necessary to buy Bates at all. I honestly opened mine twice all year, and read 10 pages or less each time.

Looks real nice on my bookshelf though.

I had a preceptor tell me to read mine for my clinical exam class. He'd quiz me on stuff too.

In general, don't buy it. Check it out from the library if you do have to read it. I was lucky enough to have a friend give me an older edition (7th).
