Is getting the complete book actually useful?? or is the pocket guide better?

both are useless, borrow bates from library

Bates is semi-useful as a reference. For example, remembering what the breath sounds are or how to palpate a kidney when you're getting started. Zero reason to read it. Maybe find a PDF copy or borrow as said above.
