When I was preparing all of my PsyD applications I noticed that Baylor in Waco had made some changes to their program a few years back. To me it had taken on quite a research flavor. I am somewhat limited in the state of Texas because there are only 2 Clinical Psychology PsyD programs (in addition to a Counseling Psychology PsyD in San Antonio that I have little interest in)...so I was applying to the difficult to get into "research-flavored" Baylor, and the seemingly easy to get into Argosy- Dallas. I was actually turned off a bit by Baylor because of the larger research component, and the fact that they would take none of my master credits for transfer (from what I understand they take no transfer work from anyone regardless of what school you went to).
Back to the point- while interviewing at Argosy Dallas, I overheard a rumor from another applicant, that Baylor is in the process of transitioning their PsyD program into a PhD program...does anyone know if there is any validity in this statement? It seems like it would be a lot of hoops Baylor would have to jump through if they were really planning this.
If by some chance that is in the works, that would leave only Argosy-Dallas in the entire state of Texas (and I add HUGE state of Texas) to have a PsyD program in Clinical Psychology - and it is still in the works of becoming APA accredited.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!
